Mac · wired second display · not Sidecar

A wired Sidecar alternative for the iPad you already own.

Send HDMI or USB-C video from your Mac into Phosphor. The iPad becomes a second display that does not care if conference Wi-Fi falls over, and does not smear code through a wireless encoder.

Use iPad as a wired second display for Mac.

  • Immune to Wi‑Fi drops: The picture is a cable, not AirPlay or Sidecar on a crowded network.
  • Text stays sharp: Direct video avoids wireless compression artifacts on terminals, docs, and UI chrome.
  • Touch & Trackpad Control (Beta): Pair with Phosphor Touch for real-time touchscreen taps, window drag, and precision trackpad pointing.
  • Custom resolution (Pro): Negotiate the desktop feed so supersampling does not soften the image.

What you need

USB-C iPad (iPadOS 17+) and a UVC capture dongle. MacBooks without HDMI should use a USB-C video-in card with Power Delivery. Set the extra display on the Mac; Phosphor handles the iPad side. For interactive input, download Phosphor Touch for Mac (Beta).
